Not all digital billboards are created equal

Just as there are cheaper LED TVs, there are poor quality digital billboards. Now with LUMO, our billboards represent the very best in luminance quality & uniformity, true-to-life colour calibration, brilliant contrast and reliability. And it's not by chance.

A sudden change that was 50 years in the making

We set up LUMO because we believe premium digital billboards can make ideas better than ever. But the billboards have to be technologically the best to enable that. Which is why we partner exclusively with American company Daktronics who are celebrating their 50th year as the world's leading light in LED screen manufacturing.

Location, location, location

Ultimately, outdoor advertising is a real estate play. By this we mean playing the right ad in the right location at the right time. It also means choosing sites that allow the screens to face traffic flows head-on and in reasonable proximity to street-level to optimise the site lines. LUMO's screens are all CBD-based, in high volume traffic zones, down close to road-level and mostly at controlled intersections for higher dwell time. Anything less than these pre-requisites won't make the LUMO cut.

Making a mark - a landmark

LUMO takes careful consideration of the physical attributes of each property and its surroundings with the intention of enhancing those characteristics to create landmark sites. Like the famous digital billboards in Piccadilly Circus, Shibuya Tokyo, and Times Square, our sites are designed to become iconic. So, whoever chooses to place their ads with LUMO - will become iconic too.

It's not the size of your pixels that counts - it's how you use them

LED technology is all important if you want your content to look sharp with rich colour depth & contrast and avoid washout associated with poorer quality LED display. Pixel 'pitch' dictates the distance between each LED, the closer the higher the resolution. So, we've employed the optimal distance for our screens - 10mm to ensure 'smooth' screen resolution and crisp contrast.

Premium vs standard?
The difference is black and white

The compromise many other digital billboards make is between resolution and contrast. Higher resolution compromises contrast resulting in a wishy-washy image due to light reflection. LUMO's LED partner Daktronics has developed a unique 'louvre' design which acts as a canopy over each individual LED so our billboards maintain strong contrast without compromising resolution.

Optimum visibility from invisible joins

All LED are made up of a series of square modules - around the size of a pizza box - joined together. LUMO billboards utilize another high-tech patented application - a specially designed locking system - to ensure seamless connection with neighbouring modules - resulting in consistent, perfect images.

Quality that's passed every test

The technology behind our LED billboards has been tested under conditions even our friends in Wellington will respect. Wind, vibrations, rain, salt, humidity and huge variations in temperature have all been thrown at our billboards and they've passed with flying, rich vibrant colours.

Pixel perfect

Superior LED isn't by chance. Each LUMO screen is carefully and painstakingly calibrated at time of manufacture which ensures even light and true-to-life colour across the whole face of the screen. What's more, our luminance levels adjust automatically depending on ambient light providing full brilliance even in direct sunlight.

Reliability and consistency - it's how we operate

Our billboards are warranted to perform optimally for 100,000 hours - that's over 11 years. They're furnished with advanced electronic componentry, making them very energy efficient while ensuring lifetime luminance quality and colour consistency. 50 years of manufacturing knowledge and experience gives us reliable high performance and incomparable quality. Brilliant!
